Department of social development outlined the process that need to be taken to apply for Covid-19 unemployment relief grant.
Minister of Social Development Lindiwe Zulu addressing the media said all qualifying candidates will receive R350.00 from May-October 2020.
The grant is the part of Covid-19 relief solution taken from the portion of R500 billion, economic and social relief measures announced by South Africa President Mr Cyril Ramaphosa.
In terms of Regulation 9(6) social relief funds will provided to only South africa Citizen , permanent residence and refugees affected by the Covid-19 national disaster.
The department of Social Grant will give direction of effective strategy on how the grant is going to be handed out to qualified unemployed candidates.
- South Africa citizen, Permanent Resident or Refugee registered on Home Affairs System.
- Unemployed and above 18
- Not receiving any income
- Not receiving NSFAS
How to apply
An application for unemployment grant may be lodged electronically and any other means of lodging the application.

Payment of Unemployment Grant
Payments will be made through provided details of the application through cash send.
The payment will be made from the date of approval till October 2020.
Note that all application will be verified if you receive income and you meet the requirements ,”false applications will give rise to possible prosecution” Minister said.
